I’ve been a product manager since 2018 and have had the opportunity to work on some exciting projects for cool companies.
Twitter Write design exploration (2021)
At Postlight (acquired by NTT Data in 2022), I lead a team of product managers and designers to explore how Twitter might better support longform content on their platform. During this 8 week project, our team research, designed, and iterated on designs for Twitter Write. Our approach was to build something that was deeply familiar to Twitter users and that integrated common user behaviors (e.g., highlighting part of a Tweet, taking a screenshot, and then sharing that image with commentary) to encourage deeper writing and more meaningful conversations.
Our solution was adopted essentially as-is by Twitter, which they are now exploring in beta.
WooCommerce Memberships profile builder (2019-2020)
While working at SkyVerge (acquired by GoDaddy in 2020), I managed product development for over 50 premium WooCommerce extensions, including the very popular WooCommerce Memberships. With this plugin, merchants can turn their WooCommerce store into a membership platform that offers perks like store discounts, access to exclusive content, free shipping, etc.
I led a project to make it easier for merchants to learn about their members so they could better support their existing members and improve their marketing efforts for new members. We did this by implementing profile fields, which allows merchants to gather critical information from their members about their demographics, preferences, goals, and more.
This project helped us improve retention for WooCommerce Memberships by allowing merchants to gain more meaningful insights about their members, which further differentiated our products from competitors.
Octane AI trial conversion rate improvements (2022)
During my tenure at Octane AI, a Shopify app that lets merchants build quizzes and recommend products based on quiz results, I led a number of projects to increase trial conversion rates by updating the app’s signup funnel, simplifying the pricing structure, and improving the onboarding experience.
I helped to improve the signup funnel by eliminating fields that weren’t essential for signup and by implementing a new, simplified pricing structure. Additionally, we made better use of our ability to connect to the merchant’s Shopify store, which let us gather information needed for signup without asking merchants to complete more steps. Our team also improved onboarding by better connecting the tasks we suggested for merchants to their store’s goals.
By reducing mental load and making more personalized recommendations for merchants during signup and onboarding, we improved our trial conversion rates.
SageSure homeowner portal (2021)
While working at Postlight (acquired by NTT Data in 2022), I assisted SageSure with improvements to their homeowner portal. SageSure is a homeowners insurance company that specializes in insuring homes in high-risk (largely coastal) areas.
Two major projects during this engagement were to create a home profile area where homeowners could share updates to their home and simplifying the process for signing up for automated payments.
The home profile area helped SageSure stay better informed about changes to the insured property (e.g., replacing the roof, adding a pool, etc.) which can impact coverages and premiums. We made use of backend data about the properties, where available, to let homeowners know that SageSure had on file for their property and to support submitting corrections. The result was better coverages and prices for homeowners and reduction of risk for SageSure.
SageSure offers an automated payment system that lets them charge homeowners electronically for their insurance premiums. Despite the clear benefits for homeowners and for SageSure, adoption of this feature was very low due to a poorly designed and confusing registration process. We simplified that process and improved the form design to make it easier to complete, resulting in a significant improvement in automated payment adoption rates.
Seeger Weiss website redesign (2021)
Another project during my time at Postlight (acquired by NTT Data in 2022) was to lead a redesign project for Seeger Weiss‘ web presence. Seeger Weiss is a leading plaintiff’s law firm that represents clients who have been injured by the actions of large corporations in mass tort and class action suits. While Seeger Weiss has set records and made history for its victories for their clients, their website was stale, dated, and difficult to use.
By interviewing various members of the firm, from named partners to receptionists, we learned more about what makes Seeger Weiss unique and what they needed out of a new site. We designed a site that is fully accessible, easy to navigate and understand, and highlights the diversity of the Seeger Weiss team.
On the backend, we customized their WordPress site to be easy for the Seeger Weiss team to update and maintain without the help of developers.
These improvements make it easier for potential clients to contact Seeger Weiss and better reflects the prestige of this firm.
